"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?' " Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In honor of MLKJ day I donated blood on my Dad's 60th Birthday. This act of service was humbling as I recall my oldest child needing multiple blood transfusions in the NICU. This episode will hopefully inspire you to channel grief and trauma in positive ways to help lift you up and your community. #donateblood #donatelife #medicalmom #nicu #bloodtransfusion #savelives

This special episode honors how to celebrate life while mourning the loss of a loved one. God willing this week I will be celebrating 4 birthdays, but one of them is a heavenly birthday. My dad would have been 60 on Dr. Martin Luther King's Day. Assuming my family is well, we will celebrate all birthdays on Kings Day at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN. This event is free and open to the public.

2022 was powerful spiritual year that taught me a deep soul lesson of the importance of selfcare. Often as Medical Moms of NICU we fail to make our health a priority because we are busy making sure our medically-complexed miracle has their medications, medical supplies, and medical appts, but we never stop to freeze to take care of us. Last year, I finally put boundaries up by making myself a priority as I almost drowned in postpartum depression caregiving for 3 under 5.

This episode shares how difficult it was to celebrate Christmas as I mourn double deaths in my family within 6 months. In this episode I validate how difficult it was to sing holiday songs, watch Christmas movies, and enjoy Christmas lights because I deeply miss my dad and my aunt. I also validate how important it was for me to reach out to a grief counselor and encourage my listeners to do the same should they find themselves feeling holiday blues.

Facing double deaths in my immediate family has brought so much gratitude for life. This episode I share how grateful I am to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday this MMONday. I watched my husband be a pallbearer 2x for my dad and aunt within 6 months. These close deaths have brought greater appreciation for life.
